Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have recovered a body and made an arrest in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation in the City of Vaughan.
Quoc TRAN and Kristy NGUYEN were victims of foul play in a targeted attack and were murdered at 111 Zenway Boulevard in Vaughan, where they were last seen around 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
Investigators released photos of the suspect and thanks to tips from the public, the vehicle was located and the driver was identified. On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Recaldo LIBURD, was arrested and charged with two counts of Accessory After the Fact of Murder.
Through investigation, the remains of one body has been recovered at Twin Creeks Landfill and Environmental Center in Watford Ontario. Investigators continue efforts to recover the second body, which is believed to be at the same location.
A Canada-wide arrest warrant remains in effect for the suspect Phuong Tan NGUYEN, who is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach him, instead call 9-1-1 immediately. The suspect is encouraged to seek legal counsel and turn himself in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone who is, or has, assisted the suspect may be subject to criminal charges.

LIBURD is currently in custody and scheduled for his next court appearance on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Newmarket Superior Court of Justice.
