Update – 1 Suspect Charged, 3 Outstanding in Vaughan Armed Home Invasion

Posted on Wednesday March 18, 2026

Charges have been laid against a male suspect after he was shot during an armed home invasion in the City of Vaughan.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the area of Carrville Woods Circle and Crimson Forest Drive. When they arrived at the scene, police learned multiple suspects, armed with at least one firearm, forced their way into the residence.

An occupant of the home accessed a legally owned, and properly stored firearm, and discharged it toward the suspects, causing them to flee.

The suspects were seen getting into a black pick-up truck which fled the scene before police arrived.

The occupants of the home were not physically injured.

A few hours later, York Regional Police was notified a male had been dropped off at a Toronto-area hospital with a gunshot wound. Investigators determined he had been shot during the home invasion and was dropped off shortly after it occurred.

The male has been identified as Trestin CASSANOVA-ALMAN, 24, of no fixed address. He is charged with Robbery with a Firearm and Disguise with Intent in relation to the home invasion. He is also charged with Breach of Probation Order, as he was on an outstanding probation order for unrelated offences at the time of the home invasion.

He remains in police custody in hospital, in stable condition.

CASSANOVA-ALMAN is known to police and wanted by multiple police agencies, including York Regional Police, for numerous violent offences. In December 2025, CASSANOVA-ALMAN was identified as being wanted in relation to Project Wrangler, a joint-forces operation which dismantled a violent criminal group operating in Ontario and Quebec.

The three other suspects in the home invasion remain outstanding.

The investigation is ongoing.
