Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged two men following a failed attempted robbery in the Community of Kleinburg.
On Thursday, February 20, 2026, police responded to a suspicious vehicle call at a commercial plaza in the area of Islington Avenue and Stegman’s Mill Road. The complainant reported that at 1 p.m., a grey Honda CRV with two occupants wearing ski masks, pulled into the parking lot. When the complainant approached the vehicle, it fled the scene.
While investigators were inside a commercial unit gathering information regarding the suspicious vehicle, the same vehicle returned and parked directly in front of the unit.
Officers returned to the scene and contained the vehicle, however, the occupants fled on foot.
One suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. With the assistance of the Canine and Air Support units, the second suspect was arrested after he was found hiding in a shed in a backyard nearby.
No injuries were reported.
The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from the City of Toronto on February 8, 2026.
Investigators are releasing photos of the suspects as they are believed to be connected to similar incidents.

Joshua ADAMS, 22, and Anthony MITCHELL, 24, both of the City of Toronto, have been charged with:
- Attempted Robbery
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
