Charges have been laid by the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team (FIT) in connection with a shooting at a residence in the City of Vaughan, which occurred in January.
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, shortly before 5 a.m., police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Madeira Avenue and Genoa Road. When they arrived at the scene, officers located several bullet holes in a motor vehicle parked in a driveway.
Investigators determined at least two suspects were involved in the shooting.
No injuries were reported.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the Toronto Police Service arrested one suspect and recovered the firearm as a result of an unrelated investigation.
Through this ongoing collaborative investigation between the York Regional Police and Toronto Police Service, FIT has identified the Shane HARTY as responsible for the January shooting.
At least one suspect remains outstanding.
