About the Scouts

York Regional Police Scouts proudly volunteer as members in two distinct scout groups: The Venturer Scouts Company and the Rover Scouts Crew

The Venturer Scouts Company is for youth ranging from 14 to 17 years old and the Rover Scouts Crew is for young adults, from 18 to 26.

Venturer Scouts Company

Founded in 1995, the York Regional Police Venturer Scouts Company is part of a nationwide Scouts Canada program built around four fundamental aspects:

  • Participation in scouting activities
  • Participation in community work
  • Participation in social functions
  • Participation in exploring various aspects related to a career in policing

York Regional Police is proud to provide an opportunity for Venturer Scouts to develop friendships and an awareness of self through company activities.

Rover Scouts Crew

The Rover Scouts Crew offers community-oriented volunteer support to both York Regional Police and Scouts Canada.

Members of the crew get first-hand insight into policing and gain valuable experience volunteering alongside the police service. Members develop a sense of community, leadership and self-confidence that will allow them to reach career and personal goals.

Why become a York Regional Police scout?

Scouts have the unique opportunity to learn more about a career in policing while giving back to their community through volunteering. Scouts participate in many community events, including:

  • Police Memorial ceremonies
  • Holiday Heroes food and toy drive
  • Community Chorus fundraiser
  • Parades
  • Walk for Juvenile Diabetes
  • Holiday dinners for numerous charities
  • International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
  • Various scouting events

Scouts are also routinely visited by members of York Regional Police to teach them about interesting units at the police service.
