CANCELLED - Chief Jim MacSween's Retirement Open House

The past week has been incredibly difficult for the policing family as we join our partners at the Ontario Provincial Police and the Toronto Police Service in mourning the tragic on-duty deaths of OPP Constable Tarun Bali and Toronto Constable Marc Pinizzotto. Losing members in neighbouring services hits especially close to home for all members of York Regional Police.

We have made the very difficult decision to CANCEL Chief Jim MacSween’s Community Open House scheduled for Wednesday June 24^th. We will be standing in solidarity with the Toronto Police Service by attending the funeral for Constable Pinizzotto on the same day.

Chief Jim MacSween was overwhelmed by the response from people interested in celebrating his retirement at this event and is deeply thankful to the many community partners, colleagues and friends who were planning to attend.

If you would like to recognize his retirement, you can still drop a card off to any police station headquarters.
