York Regional Police: 50 Years of Excellence in Policing
It was an impossible task, trying to cram a half-century’s worth of prestigious policing heritage into a book. But it was well worth the effort.
To commemorate the police service’s 50th anniversary, we published York Regional Police: 50 Years of Excellence in Policing. All proceeds from sales of this elegant, 248-page tome will be donated to Special Olympics Ontario and United Way, two of the police service’s charities of choice.
About the book
Developed over a two-year period, the book draws on organizational archives, newspaper records, historical documents and firsthand accounts from past and present members. Rather than focusing solely on operational milestones, the book emphasizes the people, partnerships and lived experiences that define the organization’s history.
The publication includes a foreword by former Chief Eric Jolliffe and an afterword by Chief Jim MacSween.
How far we've come, indeed.
