Investigators with the York Regional Police Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit (GGDEU) have charged three people and seized approximately $639,000 worth of controlled substances in the City of Markham.

On October 23, 2026, officers attended a residence in the area of Jeremy Drive and Fred Varley Drive for a check welfare call. On scene, officers located evidence consistent with the production and distribution of controlled substances in a lab setting.

With the assistance from The Office of the Fire Marshal, Markham Fire and Emergency Services and York Region Paramedic Services, the clandestine lab was safely dismantled.

During the dismantling, investigators seized 12,962 packages of cannabis edibles, 209 grams of THC vaping cartridges, 26 kilograms of loose cannabis edibles, eight kilograms of dried cannabis and 18 kilograms of psylocibin powder.

The total estimated street value of the drugs seized is approximately $639,000.

Ammunition, a conducted energy weapon and approximately $100,000 in cash were also seized at the residence.

Investigators learned the distribution of the drugs produced at the residence was conducted primarily online under the name ‘Buddha Boys’. The drugs produced were sold by illegitimate websites that mailed or delivered the orders.

As a result of the investigation, two men and one woman are facing numerous charges.
