Man Charged in Historical Sexual Assault of a Youth

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a 33-year-old Toronto man in connection with the historical sexual assault of a youth.

On July 6, 2026, the victim came forward to police and reported she had been in a sexual relationship with the suspect that began in 2022, when the victim was 15 years old.

The suspect is a music teacher and met the victim through a music studio where he was teaching in the City of Markham. Investigators believe the suspect may also teach music elsewhere in the Greater Toronto Area.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Wylie Zi Hin LAM, 33, of Toronto, was charged with Sexual Interference, Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Assault.  

Investigators are releasing the suspect’s photo as they believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
