Man Charged in Richmond Hill Sexual Assault Investigations
Investigators with the Special Victims Unit have charged a man in relation to two sexual assaults that occurred days apart.
On Friday, August 14, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a youth victim was walking on a trail system in the area of Highway 7 and Bayview Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect covered the victim’s mouth and touched her for a sexual purpose.
The victim was able to free herself and fled.
Soon after, the suspect was located in the area of Bathurst Street and Highway 7 and taken into custody.
Two days prior, a similar incident occurred in the same area. On August 12, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a youth victim was walking in the area of Highway 7 and Bayview Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim, attempted to cover her mouth and touched her for a sexual purpose.
The victim was able to free herself in that incident as well and fled.
Investigators are releasing a photo of the accused as they believe there are additional victims.

The accused was located thanks to the quick efforts by frontline officers, with the assistance of the Air Support Unit and York Region Transit, and support by investigators from the #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau and Special Victims Unit.
A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
