Suspect for Identification After Two Hate-Motivated Assaults in Vaughan
Investigators with the York Regional Police Hate Crime Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following two hate-motivated assaults in the City of Vaughan.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers responded to an assault in the area of Major Mackenzie Drive West and Amusement Drive. The suspect approached the victim, made a racial comment, and then assaulted them. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the same suspect approached another victim in the area of Weston Road and Starling Boulevard. The suspect assaulted the victim and made a racial comment before fleeing the area on foot.
Both victims suffered minor injuries.
In both incidents, investigators believe the victims were targeted based on their country of origin.
The suspect is described as male, South Asian, approximately 6 feet tall, with shoulder-length black hair, and a mustache with a soul patch.
Investigators are releasing images of the suspect and are asking anyone who recognizes him, or who has information or video from the area, to come forward.
