Suspects for Identification in Richmond Hill Vehicle Arson

Investigators from the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are appealing for witnesses following a vehicle arson in the City of Markham.

On July 24, 2026, at approximately 2:13 a.m., officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Gatcombe Circle. When police arrived, they located one vehicle fully engulfed in flames and a second vehicle with its trunk area engulfed in flames. Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the blaze and determined the fire was the result of arson.

There was no damage to the residence or any physical injuries.

Surveillance footage from the area shows two suspects, one carrying a jerry can, walking along Gatcombe Drive just after 2 a.m. Shortly after, the suspects are seen fleeing on foot.

A suspect vehicle, described as a dark-coloured sedan, was observed driving on Gatcombe Drive around the time of the incident. 

The investigation remains ongoing.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have surveillance or dashcam video around the area at the time of the incident to please contact police.
