Investigators with the York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team have charged a Toronto man with numerous firearms-related offences following a shooting in the City of Vaughan. 

On August 19, 2026, at approximately 8:20 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Weston Road and Langstaff Road. On scene, officers located a commercial premise that had sustained damage from gunfire.

The premise was occupied at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, there were no injuries. 

A lone suspect was identified and, on August 20, 2026, Felix ALGAI, 45, of Toronto, was charged. 

A search warrant was executed at a Toronto residence. During the search, investigators located a quantity of ammunition and a controlled substance believed to be cocaine. 

ALGAI is charged with:

  • Reckless Discharge of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Court Order
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Unauthorized Possession of Prohibited Device x2
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance

The firearm used in the shooting, believed to be an assault-style rifle, has not been located.

Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and are not seeking any additional suspects.
