Update - Additional Suspect Sought in Kidnapping Investigation

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are seeking an additional suspect following the kidnapping of a Richmond Hill man, who has since been located safely. 

On July 7, 2026, the victim was reported missing from his business in the area of Denison Street and Woodbine Avenue, in the City of Markham. Based on information gathered at the scene, officers determined that the victim had been kidnapped and the Homicide Unit was engaged. 

On July 9, 2026, investigators safely located the victim. One male suspect has since been charged. 

An additional suspect has since been identified by investigators and is wanted in connection with this investigation.

Ying “Amy” TANG, 53, of Markham, is wanted for Kidnapping with a Firearm and Forcible Confinement. Investigators have been unable to locate her and a warrant has been issued for her arrest. 

Investigators continue to seek Jianwei “John” FAN, 44, of Toronto, as he is wanted for Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence. A warrant for his arrest has already been issued as investigators have been unable to locate him. 

Their images are being released and investigators are appealing to the public for any information on their whereabouts. 

Both FAN and TANG are encouraged to seek legal advice and turn themselves in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to either suspect may be subject to criminal charges.
