Update - Dropbox for Items Recovered in Project Towns
Investigators with the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force (IPCTF) have charged four suspects in connection with 20 residential break-and-enters as part of Project Towns, an investigation focused on combatting break-ins across York Region.
In April, 2026 IPCTF launched an investigation into a series of break-and-enters across York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. Suspects had entered residences through rear basement glass doors, and were targeting cash, high-end clothing, jewellery and firearms.
Through the investigation, IPCTF identified an organized crime-tourism group as responsible for at least 20 residential break-and-enters across York Region.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., police responded to a residential break-and-enter in the area of Clark Avenue and Dufferin Street in the City of Vaughan. Investigators with IPCTF and the #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau located the suspect vehicle and three suspects were taken into custody.
Search warrants were executed at a residence in the City of Toronto and the City of Mississauga and property was recovered. A Dropbox folder has been set up with photos of the items that have not yet been claimed. We are asking anyone who was a victim of a residential break and enter between January 2026 to May 2026 to please review the photos and contact police if any of the items belong to you. There will be a process to verify ownership before collecting any property. A link to the property is available here: https://tinyurl.com/3xvna8pm
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7232, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online at www.1800222tips.com.
