Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged a suspect following a home invasion in the City of Richmond Hill. 

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, just before 4:30 a.m., three suspects forced their way into a residence, in the area of Hyde Park Drive and Red Oak Drive, by smashing a front window. It is believed at least one of the suspects was carrying a metal object.

Once inside, the suspects were confronted by the homeowner, who was then assaulted. 

No demands were made by the suspects during the confrontation. They fled the residence and were last seen getting into a black sport utility vehicle, driven by a fourth suspect.

The victim sustained minor injuries. 

On June 11, 2026, search warrants were executed at a residence in Kitchener. One suspect was arrested and found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Officers also seized a quantity of fentanyl, crack cocaine and a replica firearm.

Manav KOTAK, 18, of the City of Kitchener, has been charged with Robbery, Disguise with Intent, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited Device, Careless Storage of a Firearm and two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

Three suspects remain outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.
