Cold case victim, Alberta Khan.

Alberta Khan was working alone at Elson's Variety Store in Markham on the night of November 12, 1997, when two suspects robbed the store of cash, lottery tickets and cigarettes, killing her in the process.

Witnesses near the plaza, located on the northeast corner of Elson Street and Markham Road, just north of Steeles Avenue, reported seeing two clean-shaven black males at 10:50 p.m., just after Alberta's murder. They left the parking lot in a bright red sports car with tinted windows.

An autopsy determined Alberta died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.
