Apply online or in person
Applicants can choose to apply for a police record check either online or in person. York Regional Police offers online applications with electronic delivery, providing a faster and more convenient option, while in-person service remains available for those who prefer it.
For online applications, identity is verified using Equifax eIDVerifier (EIV), a secure authentication service. Applicants are asked a series of multiple-choice questions based on their personal financial history to confirm their identity in real time. This is not a credit check, does not impact your credit score and is used strictly for identity verification purposes. Applicants whose identity cannot be verified electronically will be required to attend in person for pick up.
What does a police record check cost?

How long will it take to receive a police record check?
We work to complete record checks within 7 to 10 business days. Processing times may be longer in some cases. For example, delays may happen if fingerprinting is required, if we are waiting for information from the RCMP or another agency, or if we receive a high number of requests in the same period.
If we cannot confirm your identity online, it may take additional time for your completed police record check to be delivered to your selected pick-up location.
Thank you for your patience while we process your request.
How long is a police record check valid?
A police record check reflects information available at the time it is issued. Employers and organizations decide how long they will accept a record check, and York Regional Police cannot guarantee information about an applicant hasn't changed since they received their completed check.
Can an organization apply for a police record check on behalf of an individual?
No. Each applicant must submit their own record check request.
Do I need fingerprints created?
In some cases fingerprints are required to confirm identity, and these applications cannot be processed online. If fingerprints are necessary, you will receive instructions after submitting your application to attend the Police Record Check Unit location in person.
