Our Story
Where we started—and how we’ve evolved
From the amalgamation of numerous municipal services in 1971, to the presence we have across all of York Region today, our story is one of growth, change, and an ongoing commitment to the communities we serve.
What We Stand For
The principles behind policing
Our mission, vision, and values are more than words—they shape how we serve and hold ourselves accountable to our community.
Our People
The individuals behind the badge
Our strength comes from our people—sworn officers and civilian members working together with a shared purpose.
They bring diverse experiences, perspectives, and skills to every interaction, helping us better understand and serve our community.
Territorial acknowledgment
York Regional Police is mindful that it operates within the traditional territory of many Indigenous peoples including the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat and Métis peoples and the treaty territories of the Haudenosaunee, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Williams Treaties First Nations.
Today this area is home to many diverse Indigenous Peoples, and we recognize their history, spirituality, culture and stewardship of this land. We also acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our closest First Nation community.
