About car seat clinics
York Regional Police offers child car seat inspection clinics in partnership with municipal fire services across York Region. These clinics are conducted by trained Child Passenger Safety Technicians and are designed for individuals who want to have an installed child restraint or car seat inspected.
Each inspection takes approximately one hour per seat and provides guidance on proper installation and use.
Who is this for?
This service is intended for parents, guardians and drivers who want to ensure child restraints or car seats are installed and used correctly for children:
- Infants (up to 9 kg / 20 lbs.)
- Toddlers (9–18 kg / 20–40 lbs.)

Always look for the National Safety Mark. It is proof the child car seat meets Canadian safety standards.
It is illegal to import, sell or use child car seats in Canada that do not have a National Safety Mark.
Parents are strongly advised to buy a child car seat only from a Canadian retailer in their area. This way, you may also be able to check the fit in your vehicle before buying the child car seat.
