Superintendent David MacDonald marks 25 years of dedicated service with York Regional Police, bringing extensive experience and a strong sense of community commitment to his role.

Throughout his career, Superintendent MacDonald has worked across a wide range of specialized and frontline areas, including frontline patrol, criminal investigations, homicide and missing persons, major collision investigations, professional standards, court operations and administration, and professional development. 

This breadth of experience has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of policing operations and the importance of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

As a District Commander, Superintendent MacDonald finds the most rewarding part of his role in supporting the work of officers who serve the community every day. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration with community members, recognizing that public safety is a shared responsibility and a guiding principle in all aspects of policing.

“As a resident of the District myself, I’m proud to be a part of a team dedicated to keeping families, friends and visitors in our district safe,” Superintendent MacDonald said. 

His leadership reflects a deep commitment to fostering safe, inclusive, and resilient communities.
