Chief for a Day Winner Ella Beckett Gets a Behind-the-Scenes Look at YRP
Grade 5 student Ella Beckett experienced a behind-the-scenes look at York Regional Police after winning the Chief for a Day contest, visiting multiple units and learning how police services operate.
After impressing judges and winning the annual Chief for a Day essay contest, Grade 5 student Ella Beckett spent the day learning about York Regional Police operations.
Ella visited the Emergency Response, Canine and Ceremonial Mounted Units, learning how each team contributes to community safety.
At the 9-1-1 Communications Centre and Real-Time Operations Centre, she observed how communicators support residents during emergency calls and incidents.
She also visited the Training and Education Bureau and Forensic Identification Unit to learn more about police operations.
Ella will share her experience and her ideas for community safety at Police Appreciation Night.
