Kensworth Alton FRANCIS, 31, of the City of Mississauga has been convicted and sentenced to life in custody following a 2022 double homicide in the City of Vaughan.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the ATL Lounge located at 2220 Highway 7 West. When officers arrived on scene, they located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two of the victims succumbed to their injuries. They were identified as 25-year-old Tosin AMOS-AROWOSHEGBE and 22-year-old Chibueze MOMAH. A third victim, a 20-year-old woman, survived her injuries.

Members of the York Regional Police Homicide Unit partnered with the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Program, the RCMP INTERPOL Fugitive Apprehension Support Team and the United States Marshals Service in an effort to locate the suspect, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, the suspect was arrested by the United States Marshals Service in Hartford, Connecticut. Investigators worked with the Ministry of the Attorney General to extradite the suspect to York Region.

Kensworth Alton FRANCIS was charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder and one count of Attempted Murder.

Following a jury trial, FRANCIS was found guilty of two counts of First-Degree Murder and one count of Unlawfully Causing Bodily Harm.

On Friday, June 19, 2026, FRANCIS was sentenced at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket, to two life sentences for First-Degree Murder, with no eligibility for parole for 25 years. FRANCIS was also sentenced to eight years imprisonment for Unlawfully Causing Bodily Harm. All sentences are to be served concurrently.
