Appeal for Witnesses After Cyclist Struck in East Gwillimbury
Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist struck a dump truck in the Town of East Gwillimbury.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:50 a.m., officers responded to the area of Doane Road, east of Warden Avenue, for reports of a collision involving a dump truck and a cyclist. The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions at the time of the collision.
The cyclist, a 58-year-old man from the City of Markham, was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
