Appeal for Additional Victims After Man Charged in Robbery of Sex Trade Worker
Investigators with the York Regional Police Human Trafficking Unit are appealing for additional victims to come forward after a man was charged in connection with the robbery of a sex trade worker in the City of Markham.
On Friday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the area of McCowan Road and Bur Oak Avenue for the report of a robbery. The suspect had attended the residence in an attempt to obtain sexual services. Once alone with the victim, he demanded cash and threatened the victim with a knife.
Officers located the suspect inside the residence and he was quickly taken into custody.
Yousif BABIKER, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged with Armed Robbery, Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration and two counts of Fail to Comply with a Judicial Release Order.
At the time of the offence, BABIKER was on house arrest and was subject to conditions prohibiting him from possessing any weapons.
York Regional Police is releasing a photo of the suspect, as investigators believe there may be additional victims, and are encouraging them to come forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
