Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses after two pedestrians were struck in the City of Vaughan.

On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 7:20 p.m., police responded to a collision at the intersection of Rutherford Road and Velmar Drive. Two pedestrians were struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) while crossing in the crosswalk.

An adult male pedestrian was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An adult female pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
