Four Men Charged, One Suspect Outstanding in Theft Investigation

Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged four men and are seeking a fifth suspect following a theft investigation in the City of Markham.

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 7:45 p.m., officers attended a business in the area of Fairburn Drive and Highway 7 for reports of multiple suspects loading power tools into shopping carts. The suspects were recognized by loss prevention personnel from previous theft incidents.

Loss prevention followed the suspects as they exited the business without making any payment and began loading the stolen property into a vehicle.

As the suspects got into the vehicle and were about to flee, officers arrived on scene and attempted to contain it. The suspect vehicle made contact with a police vehicle, and five suspects fled on foot.

Following a short foot pursuit, four of the five suspects were taken into custody. The fifth suspect remains outstanding. There is no description available.

All stolen property was recovered at the scene.

At the time of their arrests, all four men were on separate release orders for unrelated offences.
