Tutor Charged for Sexually Assaulting a Minor
Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a 51-year-old Chinese language tutor in connection with the sexual assault of a minor.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the victim, who is under the age of 16, came forward to police and reported that their Chinese language tutor had touched them for a sexual purpose during lessons on multiple occasions between January and July 2026.
On July 22, 2026, the suspect was arrested and charged.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are releasing the suspect’s photo in the hope that anyone else who may have been affected will come forward.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
