Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect in connection with a sexual assault in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 3:15 p.m., the victim was in the area of Highway 7 East and Bayview Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim, attempted to cover her mouth and touched her for a sexual purpose.

The victim was able to free herself causing the suspect to flee on foot.

The suspect is described as male, Black, 6 feet tall, with short hair and was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black plants and was carrying a black suitcase. 

Police urge anyone who may recognize or have information regarding this individual to contact them immediately.
