Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigations Unit are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was fatally struck in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, at approximately 7:45 a.m., police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive East and Spadina Road.

A 32-year-old woman was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle. A passerby rendered aid at the scene before the victim was transported to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police and to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
