Update – Security Video in Relation to Fatal Hit and Run Collision in Vaughan
Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are looking to speak with the drivers of three vehicles seen in security video shortly before the victim was fatally struck in the City of Vaughan.
On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at approximately 2 p.m., officers responded to reports of an unresponsive adult found at the side of the road, on Pine Valley Drive north of Major Mackenzie Drive. On scene, officers located a woman who was deceased.
The investigation determined that on Sunday, October 4, 2026, the victim was walking northbound on Pine Valley Drive from Major Mackenzie Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. As she was walking, she was fatally struck by a vehicle traveling northbound that fled.
Thanks to assistance from the public, investigators have received a significant amount of video footage of vehicles traveling along Pine Valley Drive on that evening.
Video shows the victim walking northbound and minutes later, three vehicles are seen traveling northbound moments apart. Investigators are hoping to speak with the drivers of the vehicles in order to obtain any information.

Investigators are also appealing to residents in the subdivisions north of the collision, from Ballantyne Road to Teston Road, to check any dash cameras or home security video from Sunday, October 4, 2026, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with police is asked to come forward.
Police are reminding the public that anyone who assists a suspect by concealing, repairing or altering a vehicle in an effort to avoid detection may be committing a criminal offence and could face charges. This includes anyone who performs or arranges body work, paint work or mechanical repairs intended to conceal damage caused in this collision.
The driver is urged to seek legal advice and turn themself in.
