Record Check Reconsideration
What is record check reconsideration?
After receiving a police record check, an applicant may request a review of information disclosed within the check. This process applies to the reconsideration of non-conviction or discretionary information.
Requests must be submitted in writing within 45 days of the completion of the police record check. Requests are reviewed by the Officer-in-Charge, Information Services.
Submit a reconsideration request
Submit a written request within 45 days of the completion of your police record check. Include details supporting your request and send it to:

About record check reconsideration
How requests are assessed
York Regional Police will consider the following when reviewing a request:
- The date of the incident
- The age of the applicant at the time of the incident
- All available information, including Crown brief information
- Details of the incident, including any submissions provided by the applicant or others
Decision
Following review, the information may be confirmed or removed from the police record check.
