Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau would like to thank the public for their assistance in identifying a male suspect wanted in connection with an assault on a youth in the City of Markham.
On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 7:20 a.m., an assault occurred on board a York Region Transit bus, in the area of Yonge Street and Royal Orchard Boulevard. The victim, a female youth, was approached and assaulted by an adult male.
The victim was not physically injured.
On Friday, May 1, 2026, Abi ILYAS, 40, of no fixed address, was charged with one count of assault.
Investigators are releasing his photo as they believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.
