Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Investigations Unit have charged a Whitchurch-Stouffville man and are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was fatally struck in the City of Vaughan.
On Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 7:22 p.m., officers responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a transport truck in the area of Islington Avenue and Highway 7.
The pedestrian, a 62-year-old male from the City of Toronto, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The transport truck initially left the scene but was located, along with the driver, in the area of Steinway Boulevard and Steeles Avenue in Toronto.
A 65-year-old man from the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is charged with Dangerous Operation Cause Death and Fail to Stop Cause Death.
The investigation is ongoing.
Investigators would like to speak with anyone who has information, or who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision.
