Private School Teacher Charged with Sexually Assaulting Student

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unithave charged a 40-year-old private school teacher in connection with the sexual assault of a student.

On November 13, 2025, the victim, a youth, came forward to report that their teacher had touched them for a sexual purpose during one-on-one bible study sessions at a Markham school on multiple occasions between September 2025 and November 2025.

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the suspect was arrested and charged.

The suspect taught at the private school for 17 years, primarily as a math teacher.

The name and location of the school are not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are releasing the suspect’s photo in hopes that others who may have been affected come forward.

  • Taurus CHUNG, 40, of Richmond Hill

Charges:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Exploitation

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
