Two Charged in Fatal Richmond Hill Arson

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have charged two people in connection with a fatal house fire that claimed the lives of two residents and left three others seriously injured in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2:57 a.m., officers responded to reports of a house fire in the area of Skywood Drive and Rollinghill Road. When emergency services arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames. Five occupants were in the home at the time and all were transported to hospital in critical condition.

On September 2, 2025, an 11-year-old child succumbed to her injuries. The following day, 24-year-old Helya BAHARI-KASHANI was also pronounced deceased.

The three remaining victims were treated for their injuries and have since been released from hospital.

Through investigation by the Homicide Unit, with the assistance from the Fire Marshal’s Office and other specialized units, two suspects were identified and have now been charged.

Investigators are releasing images of the accused to assist in identifying any other suspects or associates and are urging anyone who recognizes them or has information to contact police.

  • Camille Netricia HALL, 42, of Toronto
  • Smart George Idemudia Junior OBANOR, 30, of Toronto                                  

Charges:

  • First Degree Murder x2
  • Attempt Murder x3
  • Arson – Disregard for Human Life
  • Arson – Causing Damage to Property                         

The investigation remains ongoing.
