Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are appealing for witnesses following a homicide in the City of Vaughan.
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, shortly before 1 a.m., officers attended a residence in the area of Andreeta Drive and Barons Street for a report of a home invasion. On arrival, a male was located inside the house suffering from trauma to his body. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The office of the Chief Coroner identified the victim as Abdul Aleem FAROOQI, 46, of the City of Vaughan.
Investigators are looking for at least three suspects who are described as wearing dark clothing and face coverings. Officers remain in the area canvassing for witnesses and evidence.
This is being treated as a targeted incident.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police and to anyone who may have security video from the area, to please come forward.
