Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit (HUU) have charged two additional suspects in connection with a home invasion, shooting and kidnapping investigation in the City of Markham.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, shortly before 9 a.m., officers attended the area of McCowan Road and 14th Avenue for reports that multiple suspects had broken into a residence. During the incident, a 54-year-old male was shot. He suffered serious injuries.

Through the investigation, officers learned a 29-year-old female who also resides at the residence of the home invasion, had been kidnapped earlier that morning, at approximately 8 a.m., in the area of McCowan Road and Highway 407.

The victim had been intentionally struck by one of two suspect vehicles, which caused her to stop and exit the vehicle to look at the damage. The second suspect vehicle, described as an older model grey Dodge Caravan, then drove up next to her and forced her into the vehicle where she was ultimately restrained and taken from the accident scene.

Four of the suspects were arrested at the scene of the home invasion, and the kidnapping victim was later located in the City of Toronto. A loaded firearm was recovered at the time of the arrest as well as a vest with police identifiers.

On September 25, 2025, the Hold-Up and Emergency Response Units executed search warrants at residences in Ajax and Brampton. Two suspects were taken into custody and a second loaded firearm and automobile master keys were recovered.

Investigators are releasing photos of the newly charged suspects as well as previously charged adults as they believe them to be responsible for additional offences and are appealing for victims to come forward.
