Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a moped in the City of Vaughan.

On Thursday, June 25, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Rutherford Road and Islington Avenue for reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a moped and a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The rider of the moped, a 58-year-old man from the City of Brampton, was transported to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.
