About Road Watch reporting
Road Watch is a community-driven program that allows residents to report aggressive or unsafe driving behaviour in York Region.
These reports help York Regional Police identify patterns and promote safer driving.
Who is this for?
This service is intended for individuals who witness unsafe or aggressive driving and want to report it after the incident.
You may submit a Road Watch report if:
- The incident occurred in York Region
- No collision occurred
- You do not know the driver
- You have the licence plate number
- You can provide details about what happened
Prepare to report
What can be reported
You can submit a Road Watch report if you observe unsafe driving behaviour, such as:
- Speeding
- Failing to stop at signs or red lights
- Unsafe lane changes
- Failing to signal
- Other dangerous driving behaviour
What you need to report
- Licence plate number
- Description of the vehicle
- Date, time and location
- Description of the driving behaviour
- Contact information
How it works
Observe and record details safely
Note the licence plate, location, time and behaviour. Do not follow or confront the driver.
Submit your report online
Provide a description of what you witnessed.
Police review the information
A police officer will review your submission.
Action may be taken
If appropriate, a letter may be sent to the vehicle owner to address the behaviour and promote safer driving.
