Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit have charged a Registered Massage Therapist with two counts of sexual assault, and are seeking additional victims, following an investigation in the towns of Aurora and Newmarket.

On April 8, 2026, the victim attended a massage appointment at a wellness clinic in the area of Yonge Street and Edward Street. During the massage, the suspect began touching the victim for a sexual purpose. 

The following day, Augusto OLIVEIRA CUNHA, 52, of the Town of Newmarket, was charged with one count of sexual assault.

On May 21, 2026, a second victim came forward and reported having been sexually assaulted by the suspect at the same clinic.

The victim had attended a massage appointment on April 4, 2026. During the massage, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim. 

OLIVEIRA CUNHA was charged with an additional count of sexual assault on June 4, 2026. 

Investigators are releasing the suspect’s image as they believe there may be additional victims. 

He is known to have been employed at several wellness clinics in Aurora and Newmarket.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
