Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, in the City of Markham.
On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 3:41 p.m., police responded to a report that a pedestrian had been struck at the intersection of Denison Street and Featherstone Avenue.
When police arrived, the pedestrian was located on the roadway, east of the intersection. She was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical, but stable condition with life-altering injuries.
Investigators learned a vehicle turned eastbound on to Denison Street from Featherstone Avenue. The vehicle struck the victim while she was in the crosswalk. The victim was on the vehicle’s hood and windshield for some time before she fell on to the roadway.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was last seen going north on Middlefield Road from Denison Street.
The suspect vehicle is described as an electric blue, four-door Honda Civic and believed to be a 2016 to 2020 model. The vehicle had chrome trim, tinted passenger windows and winter tires with steel rims. The vehicle will have damage to its front-end and windshield.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who has not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the collision, is asked to please come forward.
