Update – Charges Laid in Serious Markham Hit-and-Run

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a suspect in connection with a serious hit-and-run collision in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 3:41p.m., police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Denison Street and Featherstone Avenue. The victim was located 50 metres east of the intersection after being struck and carried on the hood of the vehicle. She was transported to a trauma centre, where she remains in serious condition with life-altering injuries.

On Friday, March 20, 2026, officers arrested and charged the suspect. Three search warrants were executed at residences associatedto him in Richmond Hill, Oshawa and Toronto. As a result, investigators seized the suspect vehicle and a quantity of controlled substances. 

Investigators believe thesuspect took steps to conceal his identity and to repair damage to the vehicle. Investigators are releasing a photo of the suspect and are appealing to anyone who sold parts to him or who inadvertently performed repairs on the vehicle, to come forward and assist with the investigation.

  • Failure to Stop After Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm
  • Trafficking Opioid
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2

Investigators are reminding the public that anyone who assists the suspect in concealing, repairing or altering the vehicle to avoid detection is committing a criminal offence of Accessory After the Fact and may face charges. This includes any person who performs or arranges body work, paint work, or mechanical repairs intended to hide damage caused in this collision.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time and has not yet spoke with police, to come forward. Anyone who is afraid to contact police but has information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
