Suspect for Identification in Vaughan and Toronto Synagogue Shootings

The York Regional Police Firearms Investigations Team and Hate Crime Prevention Unit, along with the Toronto Police Service Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force, supported by the Counter-Terrorism Security Unit (Hate Crime Unit), are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect and vehicle wanted in connection with a March shooting at a synagogue in the Cities of Vaughan and Toronto.

On Friday, March 6, 2026, just before midnight, sounds of gunshots were reported in the area of Clark Avenue West and York Hill Boulevard. When officers arrived, they observed the front doors of a synagogue damaged as a result of gunfire.

Two occupants, who were inside the synagogue at the time of the shooting, were not injured.

Just after midnight, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Toronto Police Service responded to reports of gunshots at a synagogue in the area of Bathurst Street and Glencairn Avenue. When officers arrived, they located damage to the synagogue’s front entrance consistent with gunfire.

No one was inside at the time of the shooting and there were no injuries.

Following a lengthy joint forces investigation, investigators are releasing photos of a male suspect and a vehicle for identification in relation to both incidents.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, a court order, with a validity of five days, was granted to release the male’s photo as he is believed to be a youth. The photo is available for circulation until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at which time it must be removed.

He is described as male, Black, standing around approximately 6’ to 6’2”, with a thin build and black curly hair.

The suspect vehicle is described as an older model black, four-door Honda Civic.
