According to her husband Aubrey, Isabelle Brooks left her Markham home on the night of March 4, 1972, on foot. He told police the 68 year old put on a bandanna like scarf and a black or maroon coat before leaving.
Aubrey said that Isabelle told him she would return in one week; no one ever saw her again.
Isabelle lived with Aubrey in a small home on the southwest corner of Highway 7 and the Tenth Concession on the east side of Markham. Today, the land on which the house was built is overgrown, but the landscape surrounding the Brooks' property remains entirely rural. Tenth Concession is now known as Reesor Road.
